In the mid-70's, Laura dated Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band. During that time she met many famous musicians, such as BB King, Willie Nelson, ZZ Top, Spirit, Cowboy, the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band, the Doobie Brothers, Mick Jagger, and Chris Isaacs. As a young teen, her parents took her to see the Beatles live at the Atlanta Stadium. (Paul McCartney was her first crush!) All of these artists have had a tremendous influence on her musical style. Laura was married for 13 years and has a stepson and step grandchildren. After her divorce, Laura met her soul mate, Larry, in the late 90's. While they were planning their wedding, he died unexpectedly. As Laura dealt with her deep sadness and grief, she began to have musical dreams - which continue today. Laura often awakens with melodies, lyrics, and, at times, full-color, choreographed music videos of her songs! Laura started playing the guitar and composing her country/rock songs that uniquely reflect her life and love experiences. Laura's first song, "Help Me Through Another Night," was dedicated to Larry and the survivors of the 9/11 tragedy. She has since composed numerous songs and her inspiration continues. Laura will be in the studio this year completing her first CD, which will contain her original singles "Help Me Through Another Night," "There Goes My Baby," "The Nerve of That Man," "I Saw a Man Who Looked Like Him Today," "My Love Doesn't Die," "Get Lost For Awhile," "High Lonesome," and her newest dream-video song,Clouds Don't Always Bring the Rain," featuring BB King and Buck Owens, who were you guessed it - in her dream! Laura prefers to play acoustic and classical guitar, and is often accompanied by other talented musicians. She performs regularly at local Atlanta clubs and galleries as the Laura Simon Band.In 1994 Laura had the honor of performing at Harrods of London for an anniversary tribute of the Beatles' 1964 U.S. debut. Laura now lives in Cumming, GA at Lake Lanier. She finds time to unwind on her boat "Stress Relief" and, to regain her sanity, rides her racking horse, Excalibre.
